A Persian rug with all over "boteh" design on the dark brown ground surrounded by multiple borders alternating flower and geometric motifs on red-brown base

There has been some colour bleed from the red into the borders which are now more pink at one end

Tabnak underlay Reasonable conditionA pretty early 20th century Afshar sumac rug from the Kerman area in south west Persia. The sumac technique produces an elaborate flat weave face, a little textured, almost as if embroidered. Loose threads are left on the verso.
